SONG BOOKS is a group exhibition at SHOP Preston curated by Caitlin Akers, George Gibson and Lisa Lorenz.

The exhibition showcases an exciting selection of DIY publications that explore all things music. From fold out zines about 90’s Eurotrance by Rowland Hill to pamphlets on punk and post punk from Café Royal Books. There is an exquisite hand bound book about female New Wave musicians of the 1970’s and 80’s by Annabel Holmes and a Spice Girls hymn book by Libby Scarlett. The exhibition is a celebration of alternative music and alternative modes of creating and publishing books.


The exhibition opens on Friday 4th July at SHOP Preston with a special performance by artist Lucy Vann.

The exhibition also features a selection of zines from Pen Fight a feminist and queer small press based in Manchester along with other many more, particularly female and non-binary artists including  Anna Billany, Emma Illingworth, Annabel Holmes and some new works from the shows curators Caitlin Akers, Lisa Lorenz and George Gibson.

The show opens on Friday 4th July at 5pm-8pm. Lucy Vann will perform at 7pm.The exhibition continues on Sat 5th, Friday 11th and Sat 12th July 11am-4pm.
